Azteca Street Tacos
Chuy, founder/owner of Azteca Street Tacos, has been rolling his food trucks around Sacramento since 2010. In the industry since 1994, Chuy and his family all make the family business run, making the best tacos in town. Born in Mexico City, Chuy grew up in the Aztecan city of Teotihuacán which influenced his style of cooking.
That style of cooking is known for its usage of epozote, chiculin (similar to cumin), garlic, papaya seeds and other special spices. What makes this style of cooking so unique compared to other Mexican styles of cuisine is its spiciness and usage of interesting ingredients, and Chuy’s innate drive to push the boundaries of his own cooking, both in style and ingredient.
Come try for yourself, taste the history and love that goes into each plate, and can be tasted in every bite. Chuy himself recommends the Carne Asada and Barbacoa! With Azteca Street Tacos being mobile, it can be found in several different places. Some of the places that the truck can be found frequently are Tognottis Auto World, Track 7 Brewing Company, the Farmers Market in Cesar Chavez’s park on Wednesday’s during lunch, and of course at the first annual Michelada Fest also held at Cesar Chavez Park. Can’t wait to see you here at Azteca Tacos!
Bambi Vegan Tacos
Bambi Vegan Tacos is a Sacramento based food truck “serving farm fresh scratch made vegan tacos.” Founded in 2018, Bambi Vegan Tacos maintains all of the flavor that you would expect out of a famous food truck, especially one that has received such a high level of notoriety within a short period of time, and does so without using animal products of any kind!
Offering several unique items on their menu (corn fried egg plant tacos, home made chorizo tacos, breakfast tacos and much much more….) it’s no wonder that this relatively new Sacramento food truck has received the reaction it has from the local public, which, to put it bluntly is “we want more!” – Instagram follower. This forward-thinking food truck is gaining popularity by the day, and we encourage you you to give them a try.
Buenos Aires Argentinian Grill
Open now for the better part of a year, Bueno Aires Argentinian Grill has brilliantly brought the exotic cuisine of Argentina to the forefront of the downtown/midtown food truck scene. Lead by head chef Ruben Bozzalla, this authentic representation of Argentinian food has been a hit with Sacramento locals.
In a place where “meat is king,” they serve items such as steak sandwiches dripping in chimichurri sauce, empanadas, and several different foods made with chorizo, this food truck can be seen all over the downtown and midtown area and street festivals, food truck gatherings, and seem to have a great future ahead.
All the way from Yuba City, the Potato Patoto food truck loves to highlight the not so mighty tater tot and elevate it to a level of royalty. The tater tot has always been an American favorite, but this Yuba City truck has vowed to treat every tot with respect, leaving them “Fried, Sauced, and Loaded!” before handing them off to each and every customer.
The general public has always loved tater tots, most from childhood, but most have never experienced them like this, and that’s what the staff at Potato Patoto are banking on. “Getting our one-of-a-kind loaded tater tots into the hands of foodies is our ultimate goal, but we like to have fun along the way too.”
Eli’s Corn stand is not much bigger than a traditional hotdog stand in New York yet is still able to turn out an array of delectable items despite its size.
Serving Elote (grilled corn), Esquite (a corn dish), mangoniadas (shaved ice with pieces of fresh mango, lime juice, and different chili powders and hot sauces) and much more, all cooked in a traditional Mexican cooking style. Eli’s Corn is a brilliant mix of an on-foot paleta (Mexican posicle) vendor and a stationary grill for cooking corn mixed all into one with all the other traditional snacks that you would find in both!
Just witnessing what this family-owned business has been able to achieve out of this small but mighty cart is astonishing, and should be praised. Should you come across their cart, stop! Give them a try.
